We offer holiday accommodation
in the Vendée region of France designed particularly for families
holidaying with young children. The Vendée is an area that is very popular
with French holiday makers. Located on the Atlantic coast of France, south
of Nantes on the Loire River
and just to the North of the elegant historic port of La Rochelle,
the region boasts superb beaches, enjoys an exceptional climate and has attractions to suit all ages.
Our gites and holiday
cottages are located on the edge of villages in the
South Vendée, near the historic town of Fontenay-le-Comte. All
are ideal for large family groups or for two families holidaying together.
The quality of the holiday accomodation and services offered by "Vendee
Vacances" are most clearly evidenced by the large number of our guests who
return for two or more visits
Les Alouettes
is a gite immediately adjacent to our own home
in the ancient village of Le Langon. A
carefully converted barn, the
gite is finished to a high standard of
comfort, sleeping eight adults and children plus two babies
in four bedrooms. It is available for lets from
late April to early October. The large heated pool is shared with the
owners.
La Maison du Blé
is a farmhouse located in a neighbouring village (Mouzeuil
St Martin) that sleeps eleven plus three babies. La
Maison is available year round. It has
central heating and that make it suitable for a Christmas / New Year
in the Vendée.
Discounts are available for smaller parties (up to six) in low and mid
season. The heated pool is shared with guests ate Les Chardonnerets
(below).
Les Chardonnerets
is a gite converted from a
barn adjacent to La Maison du Blé
and sharing the swimming pool and play area. Sleeping nine plus
two babies, Les Chardonnerets is available for lets year round,
and can be taken together with La Maison for parties of up to 20,
the huge kitchen diner and covered terrace being large enough to
allow everyone in the two properties to dine together.

Why a Gite?
A self catering holiday is an ideal choice for a family holiday in
France. Young children are often creatures of habit, happiest when
able to eat and sleep to their own timetable and a gite offers that
flexibility. A gite offers more private space inside and out than
other holiday rentals might – more than a hotel or an apartment – and
provides a more controlled environment than a camp site.
Why a Gite in the Vendée?
Simply, the Vendée is an ideal family holiday destination. Easily
reached from the UK by air and sea, the region offers plenty to see
and do. The countryside is peaceful and uncrowded; there are adventure
parks, fun fairs and zoos for all ages, and the beaches of the Vendée
are amongst the best in Europe. The south of the Vendée enjoys the
second highest number of sunshine hours in France, after the Côte
d’Azur, yet rarely achieves the same searing temperatures.
Why One of Our Gites in the Vendée?
Our holiday rentals are designed especially for families taking
holidays with young children and are notable for their large living
spaces. All our properties are fully equipped with everything that
children and babies could need: cots, highchairs, bottle sterilisers
are provided, as are bed linen and towels, minimising your luggage
requirements. We live locally and are on hand to answer any questions
you might have and to deal with any little emergencies that might
arise.
"Vendée Vacances" has been in business
for seven summers now, having first opened in 2003. We are committed
to making sure that our guests have the best, most relaxing, holiday
that they possibly can.
Bordering the Atlantic Coast of France, the Vendée is easily and rapidly accessible from the
Western Channel ports (St Malo - 3 hours) and from the short sea
crossings to Calais (6 and a half hours).
The services of budget carriers Ryanair and
Flybe have transformed access by air via the airport at La Rochelle (about 35 minutes away). More information can be found under

Although our properties are fully equipped for self catering, we also
offer meals services that allow you to make the most of your
precious holiday. Our pre-prepared meals that are delivered
to your kitchen ready for your return from a day out and require only
reheating. All our meals are made to order, using fresh, local produce.
